2010 'OCTOgenarian' Grenache Tempranillo
Grenache is 'McLaren Vale's answer to Pinot Noir' and well suited to our Mediterranean climate. Although lighter in colour than Shiraz or Cabernet Sauvignon, the fine tannins combined with natural acids and generous alcohol content all combine to help naturally preserve this Grenache for over a decade.
A dash of Tempranillo enhanced the tannins and flavours in 2010. 'Sweet' fruit flavours abound without any oak influence leave lingering flavours.
Serves well with duck of many pasta dishes. Maybe serve it against a Pinot Noir for comparison...
