Collett Lane Cabernet Sauvignon 2022
A single vineyard of Cabernet Sauvignon (Clone LC10 on Ramsey rootstock) was planted in 1988 at Woodstock Estate by Scott Collett. At first the block was referred to as the ‘Pines Block’, planted near a stand of pine trees. After felling the pines and planting native trees, the name changed to the ‘Pineless Block’. Eventually, the local council agreed to Doug Collett's wish to call the unmade road ‘Collett Lane’ , this was adopted as the final name. This block is on the same sandy ridge as ‘The Stocks’ Shiraz vineyard.
‘This wine is a standout example of premium McLaren Vale Cabernet. While often
overshadowed by Shiraz, Cabernet from this region holds its own among the best.
The 2022 vintage was cooler, and we didn’t pick this parcel until late April. This mild
weather and longer ripening period allowed for slow, even flavor development and
lifted natural acidity.’ - Peter Collett

REVIEW
93 points James Suckling
“Aromas of black currants, plum skin, dried herbs, tobacco, cedar and graphite. The palate is full-bodied with firm, grainy tannins and bright acidity, giving flavors of blackberries, cassis, dark chocolate and earth. Savory and structured. Drink or hold.”
